Case StudiesHere’s a sample of some of the work we’ve done: Newport Council Objective: to design a bespoke course for Managers that would broaden their thinking and make them more creative and innovative. The course needed to provide them with a sound understanding of creativity, how it applied to their role within the public sector, the development of creative teams, and skills for “thinking outside the box.” Process: Creatives devised a course based around the needs of the client called “Managing Creativity.” Results: After the success of the first course Creatives was invited to run a second course for another group of managers. Participant comments: “There was just the right balance of theory and practical. Discussions were extremely interesting because there were people there from lots of different teams” “I’ll be recomending this to my manager too!” “A great day- thank you very much” “Really enjoyed it- fun and instructive- how good is that!”
Team Development Session for South Wales Mental Health Advocacy Project Objective: To provide the staff group with an understanding of creative thinking that they would be able to use in their day to day work. Process: With just 2 hours to address the obective the session began with with an overview of the creative process. Particapiants then “warmed up” for later activities with drawing exercises and play dough. After a discussion around areas for development a single key challenge was identified and the model making began. The group was split into 3 groups and each given a model to create relation to their view of the organisation, their role, and a perspective from the person they worked with. Result: From the laughter in the room it was eveident that people obviously had fun undertaking the exercises and feeding back to each other. They also learned something about creativity and skills they could use with the people they worked with. Comments from the team: “Usually negative about these exercises and their impact, but certain approaches/ideas/actions struck home” “Will definitely use some of these techniques at our peer support meeting” “Very enjoyable and informative.
