Hi- my first blog on my revised website...inspired by the morning Breakfast Meeting -Barnardo's.

A great start to the day at the fantastic Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff Bay- a presentation by Simon Feilding on "Mass Collaboration". This was my second encounter of this subject- the first being a Charles Leadbetter talk at the Senydd buidling where he spoke in detail about this amazing concept.

Simon illustrated his talk with stories from Lego and the the makers of X-box- "I love Bees" -a great story about products being co-created by the producers and audience.

So- what can we take from this? Collaboration is good- collaborating with customers is even better- how could the public sector adopt this strategy as a way of working? How could a small business work in this way?

For me- it reminded of an idea I had a while a go- small business owners, or new start-ups, working collaborately- to share ideas and help each other problem solve for mutual benefit. It could be called "The Collaborators." Paul from Silicone Edge, suggesetd we might offer this kind of support to Community Enterprise start-ups- great idea.

Barnardo's themselves invited people to collaborate over an idea Elleanor had about getting kids to "Busk for Banardo's." After the mornings discussion- she was overwhelmed by volunteers from the businesses present to help her take the idea forward. Great to see that being in business is not just about money..people genuinely like to offer their skills to collaborate too!
